Difference Between Magnetron Sputtering and Evaporation Coating
Sputter deposition is the process whereby particles of the sputtering targets are sputtered out and deposited on a substrate to form a film. Since ions are charged particles, we can add magnetic fields to control their speed and behavior. And that’s how its name “magnetron sputtering” comes from.
Evaporative coating means that the atoms or molecules of the evaporation materials escape from the surface by heating the evaporator to form a vapor stream, which is incident on the surface of the object and solidifies to form a solid film.
The difference between magnetron sputtering and evaporation coating:
Sputtering techniques differ from those used in vacuum evaporation. "Sputtering" refers to the phenomenon in which a charged particle bombards a solid surface (target) to cause solid atoms or molecules to be emitted from the surface. Most of the emitted particles are in an atomic state, often referred to as sputtered atoms. The sputtered particles used for bombarding the target may be electrons, ions or neutral particles, since ions are easily accelerated to obtain the required kinetic energy under an electric field, and therefore ions are mostly used as bombardment particles.
The film made by magnetron sputtering can be deposited on the attached material better, and the surface of the film layer is fine and flat and not easy to fall off, and the metal effect is more realistic and the light transmission is more uniform.
The evaporation coating is processed by a heated evaporator, and the energy of the evaporator is obviously strong without a magnetic field collision. This leads to a film that does not easily obtain a crystalline structure, the metal effect is not so real, the film adhesion is small and easy to fall off, the deposition effect is poor, and the light is bright in some places and dark in some places.
Magnetron sputtering can sputter a variety of metals. Any substance, especially high melting point, low vapor pressure elements and compounds, can be coated by magnetron sputtering.
The color of the magnetron sputtering coating is available in at least 12 colors: champagne gold, rose gold, gold, purple blue, amethyst, bright silver, etc. to meet the needs of customers in more forms.
